My name is Art van Leeuwen and I am what you would call a MAMIL (Middle Aged Man in Lycra) I cycle everywhere I go and I do a bit of triathlon. I try and do a few different distances in triathlon from a sprint to a full Ironman every year

I will be training by riding over 2000km to get ready for this ride by taking part in Tour de Munster training weekends and sessions as well as riding to and from triathlons in Kerry and West Cork
Originally from Toronto, Ontario in Canada, I moved here to Ireland in 2005. Why Ireland? I met a girl of course! She was from Cloyne and I thought it would be a good idea to follow her here. Although she moved to Canada the next year, I fell in love with this amazing island and have made it my home.

I am a musician and an artist when not on the bike or swimming or running.

On Thursday August 7th, i will once again embark on a 600km + journey through all the counties of Munster that will last four days culminating with an ascent of the viciously steep and much vaunted " Patricks Hill " in Cork City.
I will be joining 120 cyclists in this, the 25th edition of "the Tour de Munster"

I am taking this challenge on to raise money for Abigail Curtin - O'Connell and Down Syndrome Cork to help them provide much needed services for those affected by this debilitating condition in Cork City.
I am hoping to raise €2500 for Abby and Down Syndrome Cork

100% of all the donations i receive will go directly to provide these services.

I personally will cover all of the costs related to doing these cycles which include food, accomodation, cycling gear and training rides which will amount to over €1500.
